展覽論述在創作上我收集、撿拾,使用任何可以在日常生活中可見的物品做為材料,透過聚集某些物件來重現一種分散在人群當中的力量。試著混合日常物品和生活經驗,創作物品的另一種的觀看方式,使其得到一種新的生命,並讓這種經驗回歸到生活當中,為真實生活中創作新的體驗和可被想像的空間。
我擅長處理材質,多以雕塑廣義中的體感、量感、身體感為主軸做為作品最後的呈現方式。將生活經驗作沿伸,選取適當的現成物品作回應,物品本身就是作品中的主角,用最恰當的方式展現其材質的魅力和適度的回應其在生活中的狀態,是我創作的根本思想,意圖跳脫將現成物作為一種雕塑時必須使用的替代材料和視之為觀念藝術中所需要的道具的兩種藝術思維。 形式上,每件作品都是由習以為常的生活物件為契機,將單一物件(或相同種類)做為主角所製作,最後將每件作品並置在展場中,製造一個類似於真實生活的環境狀態。除了體感、量感、身體感等大原則外,視覺上皆不相同,意圖發展成一種新型式的脈絡關係,在這個脈絡之中,作品不在單屬於時間軸上的演變過程,更是一種空間上的延展,每件作品不但是一個獨立個體,且在發展過程中近一步可成相互補足的群體。 |
Exhibition StatementI care about the relationship between local people and the daily objects like consumables around them. I believe that daily consumables are a major element to represent the taste, the style, and the most important—the spirit of a city.
Thus, in this project, I would like to use some objects that can be seen everywhere but might be overlooked. I will mix the daily activities and ordinary objects in order to create whole new experiences in real life. Through the transition from old to new experiences, the daily objects complete their life journey. I specialize at handling materials. In most of my works, within the wide range of meanings in sculptures, the sense of mass, volume, and physical sensations are used as the primary axes for how a piece is finally presented. Drawing from the experiences of daily life, a suitable ready-made object is chosen as a response. Using the most fitting method to demonstrate the appeal of the material used while also providing an appropriate response to the state of our lives comprises the thought process which serves as the basis of my works. The intention of this is to escape the dualistic thinking toward conceptual sculpture art that ready-made objects must be made using a substitute material that must be used in sculpture and is seen as a necessary prop. In terms of form, every piece of work was made using everyday objects, taking a single object (of several of the same type of objects) and using it as the focal point of the creation. In the end, as each of these pieces of work are placed together at the exhibition, an environment similar to an everyday setting is created. Aside from the major senses of mass, volume and physical sensations, the visual sensation created is also unique. The intent is to develop a new context for us to reflect on the relationships between these objects. Under this context, these pieces reflect not only the changes of time, but are also a type of extension of space. Not only are each of these works an independent entity, but in the development process, have managed to become a group or collective body, mutually complementing one another. |
